Abstract

In March 2023, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.24 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 116.05. This inflation was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 0.35 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.14 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.23 percent, the health rose 0.01 percent, the transportation group rose 0.86 percent and the food, beverage/restaurant supply group rose 0.19 percent. On the other hand, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group fell 0.09 percent, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.36 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.02 percent and the personal care and other services group fell 0. .09 percent. Meanwhile, the education group was relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-March) 2023 is 1.04 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2023 against March 2022) is 6.37 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in March 2023 it was recorded that 5 cities were experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Kudus by 0.25 percent, followed by the city of Surakarta by 0.24 percent, the city of Semarang by 0.20 percent, the city of Cilacap by 0.19 percent and the city of Purwokerto by 0.10 percent. On the other hand, the city of Tegal had a deflation of 0.03 percent.

Out of 90 CPI cities nationally, 65 cities experienced inflation and 25 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Kupang at 1.30 percent and the lowest inflation was in Denpasar at 0.03 percent. In contrast, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Bandung by 1.50 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Dumai by 0.02 percent.
