Abstract

In January 2023, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.32 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 115.22. This inflation was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 1.21 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.37 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.04 percent, the supplies, equipment and routine household maintenance rose 0.63 percent, the health group rose 1.15 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.79 percent and the education group rose 0.25 percent. In contrast, the transportation group fell 0.69 percent and the personal care and other services group fell 0.01 percent. While the information, communication and financial services group and the food, beverage/restaurant supply group were relatively stable.

The January 2023 calendar year inflation rate is 0.32 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2023 to January 2022) is 6.93 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in January 2023 it was recorded that all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Cilacap by 0.45 percent, followed by the city of Tegal by 0.44 percent, the city of Purwokerto by 0.37 percent, the city of Surakarta by 0.32 percent, the city of Semarang by 0.30 percent and the city of Kudus by 0. 27 percent.

Of the 90 cities of the national CPI, 80 cities experienced inflation and 10 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Gunungsitoli at 1.87 percent and the lowest inflation was at Manokwari at 0.03 percent. In contrast, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Timika by 0.60 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Tanjung Selor by 0.04 percent.
