Surakarta City November 2021 Experiencing 0.33 Percent Inflation

Abstract

In November 2021 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.33 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 106.55. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: food, beverages and tobacco increased 0.87 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.40 percent, transportation group rose 0.33 percent, information, communication group and financial services rose 0.04 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.01 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.11 percent. In contrast, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group fell 0.03 percent and the health group fell 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group, the education group and the food, beverage/restaurant supply group were relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-November) 2021 is 1.85 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (November 2021 to November 2020) is 2.18 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in November 2021 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Tegal at 0.46 percent, followed by the city of Purwokerto at 0.40 percent,
the city of Cilacap by 0.36 percent, the city of Surakarta and the city of Semarang each by 0.33 percent and the City of Kudus by 0.31 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 84 cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Sintang at 2.01 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Bima and Pontianak city of 0.02 percent respectively. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 0.53 percent and the smallest deflation in Tual at 0.16 percent.
