Surakarta City April 2021 Experiencing Inflation of 0.02 Percent

Abstract

In April 2021, the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.02 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.78. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.06 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group increased by 0.09 percent, the health group increased by 2.27 percent, the food supply group, Beverages / restaurants rose 0.18 percent and the personal care and other services group was up 0.08 percent. On the other hand, the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group fell 0.12 percent, the transportation group fell 0.79 percent, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.04 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group and the education group were relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-April) in 2021 is 1.12 percent, while the “year on year” inflation rate (April 2021 against April 2020) is 1.98 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in April 2021, 5 cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Tegal at 0.08 percent, followed by the city of Cilacap and the city of Semarang with 0.05 percent each, the city of Purwokerto at 0.04 percent and the city of Surakarta at 0.02 percent. On the other hand, the city of Kudus experienced deflation of 0.07 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Kotamobagu at 1.31 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Yogyakarta at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Jayapura at 1.26 percent and the smallest in the city of Tanjung Pandan at 0.02 percent.
