Abstract

In June 2023, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.09 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 116.68. This inflation was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditures groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 0.42 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.27 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.04 percent, the health rose 0.23 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.16 percent, the food, beverage/restaurant supply group rose 0.11 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.37 percent. On the other hand, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group fell 0.18 percent, the transportation group fell 0.53 percent and the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the education group was relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the 2023 calendar year (January-June) is 1.59 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2023 to June 2022) is 3.73 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in June 2023 it was recorded that all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Surakarta by 0.09 percent, followed by the city of Cilacap by 0.05 percent, Tegal by 0.04 percent, the city of Purwokerto and the city of Semarang each by 0.02 percent and the city of Kudus by 0.01 percent.

Out of 90 CPI cities nationally, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was the city of Jayapura at 1.36 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Metro, DKI Jakarta, Kudus and the city of Ternate each by 0.01 percent. In contrast, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Sumenep by 0.42 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Mataram by 0.02 percent.
