Abstract

In December 2021, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.71 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 107.31. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely: food, beverages and tobacco increased 2.57 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.14 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance groups rose 0, 76 percent, the health group rose 0.02 percent, the transportation group rose 0.33 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.25 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.06 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.18 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group, the education group and the food, beverage/restaurant supply group were relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-December) 2021 and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2021 against December 2020) is 2.58 percent. Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in December 2021 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Cilacap at 0.82 percent, followed by Purwokerto at 0.74 percent, Surakarta at 0.71 percent, Tegal city at 0.66 percent, Semarang city at 0.60 percent and Kudus city at 0. 50 percent.
 
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Jayapura at 1.91 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pekanbaru at 0.07 percent. On the other hand, deflation occurred in the city of Dumai by 0.13 percent and in the city of Bukittinggi by 0.04 percent.
