Abstract

In June 2022, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.89 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 112.48. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. The expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 1.87 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.09 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.23 percent, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance rose 0.16 percent, the health group rose 0.51 percent, the transportation group increased 0.45 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.67 percent, the food, beverage/restaurant provision group was up 2.16 percent and the personal care and other services group was up 0.57 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the education group was relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-June) 2022 is 4.82 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2022 to June 2021) is 6.51 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in June 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Semarang at 0.93 percent, followed by Surakarta at 0.89 percent,
Cilacap City by 0.71 percent, Kudus City by 0.66 percent, Tegal City by 0.63 percent and Purwokerto City by 0.59 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Gunungsitoli city of 2.72 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pontianak city of 0.07 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Kendari city at 0.61 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan city at 0.03 percent.
