Abstract

In July 2022 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.35 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 112.87. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: food, beverages and tobacco increased 0.12 percent, clothing and footwear group rose 0.20 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.34 percent, group household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance increased 0.05 percent, the health group rose 0.10 percent, the transportation group rose 0.33 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.27 percent, the education group rose 1.69 percent , the food, beverage/restaurant provision group rose 0.27 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.97 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.09 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-July) 2022 is 5.18 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2022 to July 2021) is 6.63 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in July 2022, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Semarang and the city of Tegal each at 0.59 percent, followed by the city of Purwokerto at 0.39 percent, Kudus city at 0.38 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Cilacap and the city of Surakarta each at 0. 35 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, all cities experienced inflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Kendari at 2.27 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pematang Siantar and Tanjung, each at 0.04 percent.
