Abstract
In May 2022 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.71 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 111.49. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely: food, beverages and tobacco, rose 1.28 percent, clothing and footwear group rose 0.71 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.02 percent, household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance rose 0.20 percent, health group rose 0.10 percent, transportation group rose 0.39 percent, information, communication and financial services group rose 0.03 percent, recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.68 percent, the food provision, beverage/restaurant group rose 2.14 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.53 percent. Meanwhile, the education group was relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-May) 2022 is 3.90 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2022 to May 2021) is 5.34 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in May 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tegal at 1.03 percent, followed by Surakarta at 0.71 percent, Purwokerto at 0.63 percent, Cilacap at 0.59 percent, Semarang at 0.53 percent and Kudus at 0, 38 percent.
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was the city of Tanjung Pandan at 2.24 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Gunungsitoli and the city of Tangerang at 0.05 percent each. On the other hand, deflation occurred in Kotamobagu city of 0.21 percent, Palu city of 0.19 percent and Merauke city of 0.02 percent.
