Abstract
In June 2021 Surakarta City experienced a deflation of 0.22 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.61. This deflation was caused by a decline in prices as indicated by the decline in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the price index were: food, beverages and tobacco, down 1.08 percent, transportation group down 0.42 percent, information, communication and financial services group down 0.18 percent and recreation, sports and culture group down. 0.14 percent. In contrast, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.01 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.14 percent, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group rose 0.26 percent, the health group rose 0.03 percent, the group for providing food, beverages/restaurants rose 0.36 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.30 percent. While the education group is relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-June) 2021 is 0.96 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (June 2021 to June 2020) is 1.72 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in June 2021 all cities experienced deflation. The largest deflation occurred in the city of Tegal by 0.36 percent, followed by the city of Cilacap by 0.25 percent, the city of Surakarta by 0.22 percent, the city of Purwokerto by 0.20 percent, the city of Semarang by 0.14 percent and the city of Kudus by 0, 09 percent.
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Singkawang at 1.36 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pekanbaru and Tanjung Selor, each at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Kupang at 0.89 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Palembang at 0.01 percent.
