Surakarta City in July 2019 Inflation of 0.38 Percent

In July 2019 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.38 percent with the Consumer Price Index of 132.39. This inflation is caused by an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely the foodstuffs group rose 1.22 percent, the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco rose 0.30 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.09 percent, the clothing group rose 0.33 percent, the health group rose 0.17 percent, the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.01 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group rose 0.12 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - July) 2019 is 2.39 percent, while the inflation rate of "year on year" (July 2019 against July 2018) is 2.65 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province which calculated the inflation rate, in July 2019 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tegal city by 0.54 percent, followed by Purwokerto city 0.45 percent, Kudus city 0.44 percent, Semarang city 0.39 percent, Surakarta city 0.38 percent and Cilacap city 0.14 percent.

Of the 82 national CPI cities, 55 cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Sibolga at 1.88 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Makassar at 0.01 percent. On the contrary, the largest deflation occurred in Tual, which was 1.55 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Gorontalo city by 0.02 percent.
