Abstract

In October 2023, the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.16 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 117.76. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 0.34 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.04 percent, the health group rose 0.04 percent. The transportation group rose 0.61 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.09 percent, the education group rose 0.03 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.21 percent. On the other hand, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group fell 0.01 percent, the supplies, equipment and routine household maintenance group fell 0.17 percent and the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.14 percent. Meanwhile, the food, beverage/restaurant provision group is relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-October) 2023 is 2.53 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2023 to October 2022) is 3.12 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in October 2023 all cities were recorded as experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Kudus at 0.27 percent, followed by the city of Tegal at 0.26 percent, the city of Purwokerto at 0.21 percent, the city of Semarang at 0.17 percent, the city of Surakarta at 0.16 percent and the city of Cilacap at 0.27 percent. .12 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 69 cities experienced inflation and 21 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was the city of Gorontalo at 1.00 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Tasikmalaya at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Tual at 1.08 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Kendari at 0.01 percent.
