Abstract

In September 2023, the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.42 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 117.57. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. The expenditure group that experienced an increase in the price index was: the food group. drinks and tobacco rose 1900 percent. the clothing and footwear group rose 0.26 percent. equipment group. routine household equipment and maintenance rose 029 percent, the transportation group rose 0.66 percent, the information, communication and financial services group rose 0.37 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.12 percent, the food provision group. beverages/restaurants rose 0.18 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.37 percent. On the other hand, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group fell 0.01 percent and the health group fell 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the education group is relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-September) 2023 is 2.37 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2023 to September 2022) is 2.89 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in September 2023 all cities were recorded as experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Surakarta and the city of Semarang at 0.42 percent each. followed by the city of Cilacap and the city of Tegal each at 0.41 percent, the city of Purwokerto and the city of Kudus each at 0.39 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 73 cities experienced inflation and 17 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was the city of Tanjung Pandan at 1.41 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Balikpapan at 0.02 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Manokwari at 1.70 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Denpasar at 0.03 percent.
