In September 2022 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 1.30 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 114.27. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: food, beverages and tobacco increased 0.06 percent, clothing and footwear group rose 0.07 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group rose 0.12 percent, health group increased 0.20 percent, the transportation group rose 9.20 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.15 percent, the education group rose 0.58 percent, the food, beverage/restaurant group rose 0.74 percent and the personal care group and other services rose 0.36 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.20 percent. Meanwhile, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups were relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-September) 2022 is 6.49 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2022 to September 2021) is 7.84 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in September 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The largest inflation occurred in Kudus at 1.65 percent, followed by Surakarta at 1.30 percent, Purwokerto at 1.15 percent, Semarang at 1.13 percent, Cilacap at 1.11 percent and Tegal at 1. 09 percent.
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Bukittinggi at 1.87 percent and the lowest inflation was in Merauke at 0.07 percent. On the other hand, the cities that experienced deflation were Manokwari at 0.64 percent and Timika at 0.59 percent.
