Abstract

In March 2022, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.93 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 109.10. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. The expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 1.53 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.92 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.60 percent, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance rose 0.16 percent, health group rose 1.43 percent, transportation group rose 0.79 percent, information, communication and financial services group rose 0.14 percent, recreation, sports and culture group rose 1.58 percent, the food provision, beverage/restaurant group rose 1.27 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 1.43 percent. On the other hand, the education group fell 0.21 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-March) 2022 is 1.67 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2022 to March 2021) is 3.16 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in March 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Cilacap City at 1.19 percent, followed by Surakarta at 0.93 percent, Tegal City at 0.89 percent, Purwokerto at 0.82 percent, Kudus city at 0.81 percent and Semarang city at 0, 66 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Merauke at 1.86 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Kupang at 0.09 percent. On the other hand, deflation occurred in Tual city of 0.27 percent and Kendari city of 0.07 percent.
