Abstract
In February 2022 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.32 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 108.09. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: clothing and footwear, which rose 0.06 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.63 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance groups rose 0.43 percent, the health group rose 0.34 percent, the transportation group rose 0.16 percent, the information, communication and financial services group rose 0.27 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.26 percent, the education group rose 0.65 percent, the food, beverage/restaurant provision group rose 1.57 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.43 percent. On the other hand, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.59 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-February) 2022 is 0.73 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2022 to February 2021) is 2.37 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in February 2022, 5 cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Surakarta by 0.32 percent, followed by Tegal at 0.19 percent, Cilacap at 0.07 percent, Kudus at 0.06 percent and Purwokerto at 0.03 percent. On the other hand, Semarang experienced a deflation of 0.08 percent.
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 37 cities experienced inflation and 53 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Kupang at 0.65 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Tanjung Selor at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 2.08 percent and the smallest deflation in Palembang, Palangkaraya and Tarakan at 0.01 percent.
