Abstract
In January 2022, Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.41 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 107.75. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: food, beverages and tobacco, which rose 0.30 percent, clothing and footwear increased 0.03 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.63 percent, household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance rose 2.52 percent, the health group rose 0.98 percent,
the transportation group rose 0.07 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.61 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.74 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the education group and the provision group
food, drinks/restaurants are relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year January 2022 is 0.41 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2022 to January 2021) is 2.31 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in January 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus city at 0.77 percent, followed by Tegal city at 0.70 percent, Purwokerto city at 0.67 percent, Cilacap city at 0.66 percent, Surakarta city at 0.67 percent.

Of the 90 cities of the national CPI, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was the city of Sibolga at 1.53 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Manokwari at 0.02 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 0.66 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Jayapura at 0.04 percent.
