Surakarta City in August 2021 Experiences Inflation of 0.09 Percent

In August 2021 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.09 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.95. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: housing, water, electricity and household fuel increased by 0.24 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance groups increased by 0.30 percent, health group increased by 0.05 percent, information, communication and financial services rose 0.19 percent, the education group rose 0.31 percent, the food, beverage/restaurant provision group rose 0.14 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 0.57 percent. In contrast, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.12 percent, the clothing and footwear group fell 0.27 percent and the transportation group fell 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the recreation, sport and culture groups were relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-August) 2021 is 1.28 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (August 2021 to August 2020) is 1.96 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in August 2021 there were 4 cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus at 0.15 percent, followed by Purwokerto at 0.12 percent, Surakarta at 0.09 percent and Cilacap at 0.06 percent. On the other hand, the city of Tegal experienced deflation of 0.16 percent and the city of Semarang by 0.06 percent.
 
Of the 90 national CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Kendari at 0.62 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Tanjung at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Sorong city of 1.04 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Meulaboh city, Sukabumi city and Timika city at 0.03 percent each.
