Abstract

In September 2020 the City of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.09 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 104.00. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely: the clothing and footwear group increased by 0.25 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group increased by 0.09 percent, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group increased by 0.26 percent, the transportation group rose 0.43 percent, the information, communication and financial services group increased by 0.04 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group increased 0.21 percent, the food, beverage / restaurant supply group increased 0.41 percent and the group personal care and other services rose 0.31 percent. In contrast, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.30 percent and the health group fell 0.38 percent. Meanwhile, the education group is relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - September) 2020 is 0.78 percent, while the "year on year" inflation rate (September 2020 against September 2019) is 1.46 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in September 2020 it was recorded that 2 cities experienced inflation and 4 cities experienced deflation. Inflation occurred in the city of Surakarta at 0.09 percent and the city of Semarang at 0.07 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Kudus at 0.08 percent, followed by Tegal at 0.06 percent, Purwokerto at 0.04 percent and Cilacap at 0.03 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Gunung Sitoli at 1.00 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pontianak and Pekanbaru at 0.01 percent respectively. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Timika at 0.83 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Bukittingi, the city of Jember and the city of Singkawang each with 0.01 percent.
