Abstract

In June 2020 the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.29 percent with the Consumer Price Index of 103.82. This inflation is due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the consumer price index figures. Expenditures group experienced an increase in price index namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 0.41 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.09 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.10 percent, the group health rose 0.07 percent, the transportation group rose 0.06 percent, the information, communication and financial services group rose 0.02 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.02 percent, the food, beverage / restaurant supply group rose 1 , 30 percent and the group of personal care and other services rose 0.10 percent. In contrast, household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance fell by 0.06 percent. While the education group did not experience changes in the price index.
The calendar year inflation rate (January - June) 2020 is 0.61 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (June 2020 against June 2019) is 1.40 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures are calculated, in June 2020 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tegal by 0.42 percent, followed by Purwokerto by 0.40 percent, Surakarta by 0.29 percent, Cilacap by 0.28 percent, Semarang by 0.16 percent and Kudus by 0.09 percent.
Out of 90 national CPI cities, 76 cities experienced inflation and 14 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Kendari by 1.33 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Makassar by 0.01 percent. Conversely the biggest deflation occurred in Ternate by 0.34 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Padang Sidempuan city by 0.02 percent.
