Abstract

In May 2021 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.06 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.84. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index, namely: clothing and footwear group rose 0.38 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups rose 0.10 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group rose 0.07 percent, the health group rose 0.03 percent, the transportation group rose 0.18 percent, the information, communication and financial services group rose 0.02 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 0.28 percent and the food, beverage/ restaurants rose 0.03 percent. In contrast, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.03 percent and the personal care and other services group fell 0.13 percent. While the education group is relatively stable.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-May) 2021 is 1.18 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (May 2021 to May 2020) is 2.24 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in May 2021 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the cities of Tegal and Cilacap at 0.25 percent respectively, followed by Kudus at 0.21 percent, Purwokerto at 0.19 percent, Semarang at 0.17 percent and Surakarta at 0.06 percent. .

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Manokwari at 1.82 percent and the lowest inflation was in Tembilahan city at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in Timika at 0.83 percent and the smallest deflation in Palembang at 0.02 percent.
