Surakarta City in October 2019 Experienced Inflation of 0.25 Percent

In October 2019 the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.25 percent with the Consumer Price Index of 132.16. This inflation is due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index figures. Expenditures group experienced an increase in price index namely: the foodstuffs group rose 0.55 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.20 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.07 percent, the clothing group rose 0.30 percent, the health group rose 0.06 percent, the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.51 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group rose 0.11 percent.
KalenderThe calendar year inflation rate (January - October) 2019 was 2.21 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (October 2019 against October 2018) was 3.02 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in October 2019 there were 3 cities experiencing inflation and 3 cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Surakarta by 0.25 percent followed by the city of Tegal 0.13 percent and the holy city 0.10 percent. In contrast, the biggest deflation occurred in Purwokerto by 0.08 percent, followed by Cilacap city by 0.07 percent and Semarang by 0.06 percent.
Of 82 national CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 39 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Manado at 1.22 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pematang Siantar city, Tual city and Ternate city each at 0.01 percent. On the contrary, the biggest deflation occurred in Balikpapan, namely 0.69 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Palopo, by 0.01 percent.
