Abstract

In March 2020 the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.01 percent with the Consumer Price Index of 103.76. This inflation is due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index figures. Expenditures group experienced an increase in price index, namely: the clothing and footwear group rose 0.29 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.15 percent, the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group rose 0.28 percent, the health group up 0.06 percent, the transportation group up 0.04 percent, the education group up 0.03 percent, the food and beverage / restaurant supply group up 0.12 percent and the personal care and other services group up 0.28 percent . In contrast, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.33 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.08 percent. While the information, communication and financial services group is relatively stable.
The calendar year inflation rate (February - March) 2020 is 0.55 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (March 2020 against March 2019) is 2.24 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, as of March 2020 there were 5 cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Cilacap by 0.06 percent, followed by the city of Purwokerto 0.05 percent, the city of Kudus 0.04 percent, the city of Semarang 0.02 percent and the city of Surakarta 0.01 percent. In contrast, the city of Tegal experienced a deflation of 0.02 percent.
Out of 90 national CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Lhokseuamwe by 0.64 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Pekanbaru, Surakarta and Surabaya each by 0.01 percent. On the contrary, the biggest deflation occurred in Timika City, which was 1.91 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Tangerang, which was 0.01 percent.
